TEAM SPONSOR FOR NEWPORT HORNETS

Newport's National League squad - the Hornets- will be sponsored in season 2010 by the Wessex Bus company based in Weymouth. The company were previously sponsors of Newport Hornets Kyle Newman, James White-Williams and Tim Webster in their racing days as Weymouth Wildcats and with White-Williams and Webster joining Newport on full transfers from Weymouth during this close season then Managing Director Nigel Charlton has decided to take up an option negotiated by Newport Speedway Co-Promoter Nick Mallett to take the team's title sponsorship for an undisclosed four figure fee as well as continue his working relationship with the riders that he has backed previously.

Commented Nick Mallett: 'It is quite well known that Nigel could have been lost to the sport after some issues between his company and Weymouth Speedway where he was the major club sponsor. We are delighted to have kept him involved and welcome his backing for the Hornets as a whole. Now we just need to achieve a team sponsor for the Newport Wasps Premier League team!'

Nigel added: 'Newport Speedway has excellent facilities for sponsors, riders and of course - fans. Wessex Bus are delighted to become associated with such a progressive club and I'm pleased that James and Tim are going to be part of the set-up.'

Fixtures for the Wessex Bus Hornets are yet to be published but the speedway season at the Queensway Meadows stadium starts on Sunday March 21st at 2.30pm when the 2010 Wasps race the 1999 Legends in a special six-a-side challenge match.
