NEWPORT WASPS TO BE BACKED BY DARLOWS
By Newport Speedway ~ Monday 1st March 2010
Within days of the news that the Newport Hornets National League team was to be sponsored by Wessex Bus comes a positive double for Newport Speedway with the announcement that the Newport Wasps Premier League team are to be sponsored for the 2010 season by Darlows Estate Agents in an initial four figure deal. Founded by the former chairman of Newport County AFC Alan Darlow MBE  - the chain grew from its branch in Newport to become a 100-strong chain in South Wales and the West Country. The brand is now part of the Spicerhaart Group who are regular advertisers at Premiership Football grounds.

Commented Newport Speedway's Commercial Manager Shaun Honour who negotiated the deal: 'We are delighted to be involved with a local company who have a national profile. That is what the Wasps will provide for our team sponsors too. I look forward to this being the start of a working partnership that will endure for many seasons to come. This is positive news at a time when finances are tight and the future does look bright for the club'
Darlows will enjoy access to the excellent hospitality facilities at the stadium based at Queensway Meadows as well as a profile package on the riders' racesuits and in the matchday programme.

The season opens on Sunday March 21st at 2.30pm when the 2010 Wasps race the 1999 Legends - a team composed of ex-Wasps who rode in the club's most successful season in the modern era of the sport in the city.
