BEARS AIM TO KEEP UP MOMENTUMBy Redcar Speedway ~ Monday 19th July 2010On the back of an historic victory over the Kings Lynn Stars last Thursday the Redcar Bears management and riders aim to keep up the winning feeling when they race the Stoke Potters in Premier League action at the South Tees Motorsport Park on Thursday evening with tapes up at 7.30pm.
Commented team manager Jitendra Duffill: 'We had never beaten the mighty Kings Lynn in any competition since Speedway was rekindled at our South Bank Middlesbrough circuit in season 2006. Everybody at every level was not only jubilant by a long-awaited victory in a difficult season but to defeat our bogy team was something else. We enjoyed those celebrations and we want to experience more this Thursday evening. We have just got to keep up the momentum now.'
With Ben Wilson returning to form he switches back to number three in the riding order with recent signing Charles Wright swapping to number two. This will give him a particular chance to score well in heat eight of the fifteen heat formula. Danish newcomer Peter Juul rode well on his debut last Thursday and forms a reserve partnership with Czech Republic international Tomas Suchanek.
However, Peter and Tomas will need to be at the top of their form as Stoke have strengthened at number six and seven in their riding order with the recent acquisition of the services of Jan Graversen and Lee Smart. Graversen, in fact, moved to the Staffordshire club after being released to accommodate a reshuffle in the Redcar Bears line up in May. He had ridden well for the Bears and has certainly carried that on being top scorer for the Potters in their home victory over Scunthorpe last Saturday evening and then second highest scorer to fellow reserve Lee Smart in Stoke's narrow defeat at Newport on Sunday afternoon. The Potters will also be expecting 17-year-old Australian prospect Taylor Poole to carry on with the consistent points gathering that he has achieved in his first full season in British Speedway while American Ricky Wells, Dane Claus Vissing and Czech Lubos Tomiceck are more than capable of popping up with individual heat wins. So an intriguing basement battle is in store.
